Boss Keen To Add To His Squad After Releasing Four

17 May 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told supporters not to expect too much more business this summer but he is still aiming to bring at least another three players to bolster his squad options.

Artell is eager to re-sign Shaun Miller on a permanent deal following his successful loan spell. Miller, 30, scored six goals whilst on loan from Carlisle United and is now a free agent after being released by the Cumbrians.

With full-backs, Zouamana Bakayogo and Ross Woodcock being released and Jamie Sterry returning to his parent club Newcastle United after a loan spell, the Crewe boss is prioritising another full-back.

David told the club’s official website: “I’ll say to the fans now ‘don’t expect too much over the summer’.

“We’ve done a lot of good work early on and they don’t have to look on social media every week.

“Even if we go into pre-season with what we’ve got now I’ll be a happy man.

“But we are after a couple of positions, whether we get them on permanent or loan signings, we don’t know yet.

“Am I comfortable being in that position? I am. I’d like to do one more bit of business (Miller) before and then have all summer to get a couple of positions in.”
