The Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has enjoyed the last week of the season after James Jones, Charlie Kirk and Callum Ainley all signed new contracts with the Football Club.
Artell has gone through the long dawn out process of getting those players over the line, but he is delighted that the highly-rated trio have all committed their futures to the club. His squad is beginning to take shape and he has promised to add one or two new faces this summer as well.
Artell told Crewealex.net: “We have signed three good players, three really exciting prospects and it has been a really good week for the Football Club.
“I am delighted that they have signed and want to continue their development with us. They have made the right decision and it sure beats them walking out the door for a fee that would probably be decided by a panel of people who don’t understand the players or what this club is all about.
“Going to a tribunal would give us less control if you like and this is a far better scenario. We have three former Academy graduates signed up and I am sure they will play a lot more games for the Football Club.
“Time will tell if we are turning things around when it comes to the contracts of our younger players but this is a very good start.”
