Artell: "Still Things To Play For"

3 May 2018

Points total, league position and just who will finish as the club's leading goalscorer? Still things to play for as we welcome Cheltenham to Gresty Road this weekend.

David Artell believes it is nicely poised to see who will finish as Crewe Alexandra’s leading goalscorer this season.

With one game still to play against Cheltenham Town on Saturday, Jordan Bowery is just one goal ahead of team-mate Chris Porter in the race to finish as the club’s leading scorer.

Ahead of our final game of the season at Gresty Road, the Crewe boss said: “There are still things to play for. We want to finish strong and we want to finish with three straight wins. That is something we have not been able to accomplish this season.

“We want to finish on 56 points and beat last season’s total. The aim is to try and finish 15th and we cannot afford to slip up because Cheltenham are right there.

“We have had a decent couple of months and we don’t want to go into the summer on the back of a defeat.

“There is just one goal between Jordan and Chris, so that will be interesting. They will both be focussing on getting the win first and foremost because they are team players, but I am sure that any striker wants to finish as their club’s leading goalscorer. “
