Artell: "Pleased With The Way Things Are Progressing"

22 May 2018

David Artell says he has been pleased with the way things have gone so far in his structuring for the new season.

The boss has already signed a number of the club’s promising youngsters on new contracts and has added senior players, Paul Green and Shaun Miller on permanent deals after their successful loan spells.

Artell says that the work will continue to bring in new reinforcements but he is satisfied with the way things have progressed thus far.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “I am happy with the way things have progressed so far. I even treated myself to a glass of wine with the wife at the weekend!

“It has gone well so with the youngsters signing and Paul Green and Shaun Miller signing their deals early.

“There are still two or three bits to do yet and we have a long time to do it. When it happens I don’t know, but when it does arise, we will act accordingly. We have 26 professionals and we need a few more.

“We have to get through a 50+ game season and a 32 season plus cup games for the Under-23s to consider.

He added: “We are still looking to strengthen and we have time on our side but we won’t be signing players for the sake of it.”
