David Artell is delighted that James Jones has today signed his new contract with the football club.
The former Scotland Under-21 International has agreed a new two-year deal and will be aiming to enjoy an injury free season after unfortunately missing a large chunk of this one due to injury.
Jones was a key player during the 2016/17 season, scoring 11 goals from his 50 appearances.
Artell told the club’s official website: “We are delighted that James has signed because he is a good player. It is good news and we have missed him this season.
“He has been really unfortunate with injuries, especially when he came back in January and injured his knee in the first session.
“As a club we have been here for him and he knows that. He has been here for a long time and we know what a good player he is. If he can get back to where he was then I am sure he will go on to bigger and better things. It just hasn’t been at this moment in time for him.
“If he can get back to where he was last season then I am sure there will be clubs lining up to sign him. Eventually he will get there.
He added: “He has a bit of everything. He can head it, has a good range of passing and can take a goal. We talk about players, stopping, creating and scoring goals and Jonah can do all three.”
