I would like to express my thanks to all who contributed to my testimonial on Sunday 6th May.

First of all to Chairman, John Bowler and his board of directors who granted me the day and also supported the event. Other people at the club were also generous in their support and help including Bev in the ticket office and Sarah and Laura and Alison in the main office.

My testimonial committee worked tirelessly. Led by Scott Kynnersley and Graham McGarry and supported by Ed Whitby, Liam Bedson, Tony Green, John Rodgers and Trev Griffiths and latterly Andy Scoffin.

The speakers at the events, Dean Ashton, Seth Johnson and Steve Holland gave up their time to come along and were well received by a captive audience on both evenings.

All spoke well and related their experiences at the Alex as well as the other clubs they all played for and managed and coached. They had nothing bad whatsoever to say about our great club in fact they put us on a pedestal as far as player development is concerned.

The number of players that turned up on the day was fantastic. Over forty ex-Alex players came along either to play, manage or watch. Some of them travelled long distances to take part and most stopped for the evening event and I cannot thank them enough.

The supporters also came in their numbers. They have been terrific to me over my 23 years at the club and gave me and the players a marvellous ovation. It was the highlight of the day for me and when asked to address them I found it hard to find the words to thank them. It was so emotional, but a good time to thank them for their support for me and the club.

My thanks also to companies and individuals who sponsored the three events. These include CD Construction, Whitby Morrison, KPI, Sapphire Accounts, Nantwich Veneers, Wayne Morgan of Nantwich Cheese and Andy Newton who sponsored the players’ tables for the sportsmans evening. Others also sponsored parts of the events which were much appreciated.

The three meals provided by Fiona and her staff were excellent. To cope with the numbers attending the functions was admirable and I take my hat off to them. They were top class and everybody commented on the quality of the food.

Hopefully, I have not missed anybody, if so my sincere apologies. So many people helped to make it a day i will never forget.
