On-loan full-back Jamie Sterry missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stevenage due to a thigh injury.

The Newcastle United youngster suffered his injury in training last week and although he was able to run again towards the end of the week, he was not going to be risked by boss David Artell.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Jamie missed the game with a thigh injury. He tweaked it in training and he was touch and go for the weekend.

“He is able to run okay but he hadn’t kicked a ball so for the sake of him playing one game and then missing six weeks wasn’t worth the risk.

“Saying that the right back who played (Perry Ng) didn’t do badly in his place!

The boss added: “I would imagine at this stage that Jamie will be available for the weekend but I will know more towards the end of the week.”
