Recruitment Drive Has To Start Now

8 March 2018

Club look at recruitment department again after letting scout Gary Jenkins go.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that plans for our summer recruitment are already well underway. The Alex boss has adopted a real hands-on approach to recruitment and he has already let one scout depart the club after he didn’t ‘quite fit the profile of what we are looking for’.

Artell may now look to appoint a new senior recruitment officer to assist in the signing of players after letting Gary Jenkins leave the club recently.

David explained to crewealex.net: “We have looked at our recruitment department and had a three hour meeting about things recently. We know that the process has to start now. Players do not play football after May, so it is important that we devise our lists and go and watch them between now and the end of the season.

“We have let one of our scouts go. We thanked Gary for his hard work, his diligent work but he didn’t quite fit the profile of what we were looking for.

“We have had conservations about what is needed for the summer. The wheels are in motion and it is important we all know exactly what we are after. I’m sure there will be some candidates to replace Gary and we will get some good applications.

“We are always planning for the future and looking at things we can do better and more effectively. We need someone who has his ear to the ground in football because recruitment is not an exact science, it is more of an art form. “
