Ray Delighted With Winning Return

1 March 2018

Crewe Alex skipper George Ray 'couldn't have asked for a better weekend' having recovered from a troublesome back injury to return to the fray after ten months out in the 4-1 romp of Lincoln City.

The Club Captain had been chomping at the bit to make his return, but did so at the right time after a carefully managed rehabilitation process.

George said “I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend back really. It’s been a long slog over the ten months, so to come back with a win away at Lincoln made it a perfect weekend.

“I’d been out a long time and it takes a while to get back into things with some ups and downs. After that final 23’s game at Birmingham, me and the gaffer had a chat and we both decided I was ready to come back.

“I’ve sat at most of the games this season, and seen us throw away some leads late on, so it’s important to emphasise the importance of the final minutes of games, all the little things need to be done right up until the final whistle.

“On Saturday, even at 3, 4-1 you’ve got to keep concentrating because anything can happen in football and I thought we saw it out well.

“We need to carry it on into Saturday against a good side. Football is results game and that’s what you get judged on.”
