Crewe Alexandra defender Eddie Nolan revealed with delight at triggering an extra year to his contract after admitting he's 'really enjoying' his time in South Cheshire.
The 29-year-old has played the required amount of fixtures in his one-year-deal signed in summer 2017 to automatically trigger a further year, and the Irishman is pleased to have gotten his future sorted early.
Nolan said: “I’m enjoying my time here, so I definitely wanted the extension to get done as soon as possible. It was in the back of my head in wanting to earn that, to have a less stressful summer looking for a new Club so I can relax and come back fresh for pre-season.
“I’ve been happy enough. I’ve played a lot more this season that I did last season, that was the main thing for me.
“I had a frustrating season at Blackpool. I think I only played ten games all season, which no footballer really likes. We got a promotion but I didn’t really feel as part of it as I should’ve, so my main aim this season was to play as many games as possible.
“This is the most I’ve played in one season at centre-halve, over my career I’ve mostly featured in one of the full-back positions and I’m happy with that because I prefer centre-half.”
