McKirdy Hoping For Another Starting Role At Barnet

29 March 2018

On-loan striker Harry McKirdy is hoping that he will get another chance to partner the in-form Jordan Bowery up front when the Alex take on Barnet at the Hive Stadium tomorrow.

The Crewe striking partnership were both on target in the 2-1 win at Newport County last weekend and the on-loan Aston Villa youngster is hoping to get the nod again.

The competition for places is certainly fierce in all positions, but especially up front where Shaun Miller and Chris Porter are close to returning from injury and Lewis Reilly and Chris Dagnall have had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench in recent weeks.

McKirdy, who scored his second goal of his loan deal with a splendidly worked flick and finish at Rodney Parade is hoping that he has done enough to retain his place.

Harry told the club’s official website: “I want to play, I want to be involved. I am like anybody else when you are out of the team and sat on the bench, it can be frustrating. I am desperate to play and that is what I love doing.

“Hopefully, I can keep ticking over now and push on to play more games and hopefully score a few more goals. If you can become more consistent then it makes you a better player.

“Jordan is on fire at the moment and I’ve enjoyed playing with him. I think we complement each other well and if we can both score a goal apiece every week, that will do us.

Harry added: “We are a bit out of it (trouble) at the minute with the results we have had and we all want to end the season well.”
