Martin Allen Knows What Is Required

29 March 2018

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he is not overly surprised to see Martin Allen back in the hot-seat at his beloved Barnet. Sometimes a club just fits a manager and the former Gillingham, Notts County, Cheltenham and Leicester City boss is now enjoying his fifth spell in charge of the Bees.

Artell believes that Barnet will receive a bounce with the appointment of Allen for the remaining games of the season. Bottom club Barnet do face an uphill battle to remain in the EFL and the Crewe boss wants his side to extend our points advantage over them on Friday.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It is up to us to extend the gap and to try and extend our mini-run to three games.

“People say this is a big game, the Vale game is a big but Newport was a big game. The Forest Green one before that was a big game because they are all worth three points. They are all tough games because that is the nature of this league.

“Martin has gone back in there for a 5th time and he knows his stuff. He certainly knows Barnet Football Club. He is a like a Bee that you try and squat away but he keeps coming back and I mean that in the nicest possible way. He is a proper football man and I’ve met him before.

“He was a pundit down there for one game when Edgar Davids was the manager and we had a good chat.

He added: “Martin will make sure they work their socks off to give themselves a chance. He also knows what is required in this league to get results. We will have to be prepared for that.”
