"Green Would Have Been A One-Handed Paul Groves For Us"

6 March 2018

David Artell says that our on-loan midfielder Paul Green would have been prepared to have played ‘like a one handed Paul Groves’ against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday. The game was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions and Green will now be fitted with a cast to allow him to play on.

Green suffered a fractured hand early into our 4-1 win over Lincoln City last time out and the on-loan Oldham starlet visited a consultant in Leeds last week to be given the all-clear to continue playing.

David Artell told crewealex.net: “Paul saw a specialist last week and he visited him again today to be fitted with a cast that will protect the hand for the next few weeks. It will allow the bone to heal again.

“Paul has been terrific for us since he came here. He is a top fella, a top pro and a good player. We would have been prepared to play with a self-made, physio led hand bandage if you like against Forest Green. That is the kind of guy he is.

“He would have looked like a one handed Paul Groves out there but he would have played for us. Now he will have a professional splint and Paul will be fine.”
