Artell: "We Have Really Worked The Players"

7 March 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official website that our postponed game against Forest Green Rovers gave him the opportunity to really work his players ahead of this weekend’s trip to Stevenage.

The Alex boss was as disappointed as anyone that we were not given the opportunity to follow up our fantastic 4-1 win at Lincoln City with a home game, but he says that the players have worked hard in preparation for going again at the Lamex Stadium.

David told the club’s official website:  “The training has been good. We waited for the pitch inspection on Friday before putting a more intense session on. They also trained on Saturday and the postponement allowed us to put plenty of work into them.

“We have looked at areas to work on and have reiterated what we want from them. We had a great result at Lincoln and we have looked to carry that into the training. I have been saying for a while now that we have not been far away. I said it to the fans at the forum and I think the performances have been good over the last five games.

“We should have generated more points than we have. We should have got something from Accrington and definitely something from the Exeter game but I didn’t think we were miles off getting results against two of the top teams.

“It happened for us at Lincoln and now we have to keep on producing that level of performance. I know that performances do not always guarantee the points you deserve, so we have to continue to pick up the points we will need as well.”
