Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says he will assess both James Jones and Chris Dagnall before deciding on his squad for this weekend’s home encounter with Coventry City.
Jones completed 60 minutes on his return to fitness for the club’s Development Squad earlier this week. Dagnall, who played the final 12 minutes at Stevenage last weekend, played 75 minutes of the 1-0 win over Birmingham City before coming off as a precaution.
Both players could now be considered for the weekend, but neither will be risked if there is any doubt over their fitness.
Artell told the club’s official website: “The players who played for the 23s are fine. Some we gave enough time too, some we pushed on and some are making their own progress.
“We will see how they get on in the final session today and we won’t be counting any chickens just yet because we have done it too many times this season. We think they are back and then they are out again, so we won’t be taking any risks with any of them.
The boss added: “We will assess how Daggers is today and go from there. Jonah came through fine but we will have to see if it is too soon for him.”
