Artell: “There Was No Panic At Lincoln”

1 March 2018

Alex Boss Dave Artell praised his sides determination to get the job done at Lincoln City on Saturday.

Four days earlier, Crewe lost 2-1 to Exeter after conceding twice in injury time, and Artell was pleased his side 'didn't panic' at Lincoln and instead all did their jobs efficiently to eventually win the game comfortably.

He said: “We went one down and there was no panic. There was no, oh here we go again, scenario. It was like, alright then, back to basics let’s get this done.

“We equalise, that’s fine, then second half we just became that effective team and delivered that know-how of what to do.

“Boom, thanks very much. We go 2-1 up and there was no panic, or survival mode that we’ve slipped into before.

“We worked hard in getting them into a mental frame of mind so that, whatever stage of the game, they can do their jobs, not worry about anything else – even the team mates. If they’re doing their job and you’re doing yours, we win the game.

“Saturday we did that superbly well.”
