Artell: "Sarll Sticks To His Principles"

7 March 2018

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell believes it will be a ‘good game of football’ against Saturday’s opponents Stevenage because their manager Darren Sarll likes his team to play the right way.

Artell is looking forward to catching up with Sarll at the Lamex Stadium this weekend and he is a keen admirer of the Stevenage boss’ philosophy. The Crewe boss knows that Stevenage have a young, energetic squad, who have been flirting with the play-off positions for much of the season and that it will be another tough ask for the Alex.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Artell said: “Stevenage are a young and energetic side. They like to pass the ball, like we do, so it should be a good game of football. They are better at home than they are away but that is like most sides in the division.

“I like Darren and I like his philosophy on football. They like to pass the ball and he sticks to his principles. They have been up there this season but have fallen away a bit, but he is of the belief that if they are going to get out of the league they will do it playing the right way. I respect that.

“There are some managers who would sacrifice their principles to get results but it is more satisfying to achieve results playing the right way and Darren falls into that category.”
