Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will continue to encourage his players to play with expressive freedom.
The Alex boss says he will always want his teams to be resilient all over the pitch but he still wants his attacking players to demonstrate their flair in the final third.
Ahead of his weekend’s home game with Coventry City, Artell said: “We work hard on giving our forward players the freedom to be inventive and imaginative in the final third. We want them to make their own decisions and be fluid.
“We see a lot of teams where they are very regimented and you can see that they have been instructed to do certain things.
“I prefer to see our players have the confidence to play with some skill and flair. When those things come off then it breeds confidence and they start making better decisions anyway. We want our players to express themselves in the right areas.
“When that happens the belief builds and that is what we have been seeing over the last few weeks.”
