Kenny Lunt says that adding two more full-backs to the Crewe Alexandra squad this summer would free up Perry Ng and Harry Pickering to play in different positions if needs be.

Pickering has operated at left-back, on the left hand side of midfield and in central midfield last season and Ng has played at right-back, in his preferred position of centre-half and in central midfield.

Lunt told the club’s official website: “If we can get the right players in then that would give us the flexibility to use the versatility of players like Perry and Harry. They can play in different positions and that is due to their grounding in the Academy when we play them in different positions.

“They have their natural positions and I’m sure that Harry’s future lies in midfield and playing further forward and Perry wants to develop into a centre-half.

The assistant manager added: “It is good to have players here who can play different positions and give us those options. It is something we did last season and will look to do again in certain games.”
