Lunt: "No Rush To Sign More"

5 June 2018

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Kenny Lunt says that the club are in ‘no rush’ to add more players to the squad. Lunt has told the club’s official website that the management team are prepared to wait for the right player or players to come along and he stresses that he will wait for as long as possible to do so.

Lunt has revealed that the focus has not switched to the defence with both full-back positions under consideration. The club are eager to create competition for places and offer sufficient cover for Perry Ng and Harry Pickering.

Lunt told crewealex.net: “If the right player comes along then we would do everything we could to get them in. We are after two full-backs, to give us the flexibility back there. If that is a loan player or a permanent player we will have to see and much will depend on who is available.

“We are in no great rush and it could be a late one but we want the right one or two. We want that competition for places right throughout the team and it would give us the versatility to play Perry and Harry in different positions if needs be.

“We are just a bit short in the full-back positions but a couple of the younger lads, the first year pros who have signed are full-backs, so we will see how they do in pre-season as well.”
