"I Was On The Phone Constantly To Greeny"

Chris Porter says he played his part in convincing his pal Pau

Chris Porter is delighted that he was able to play a part in convincing Paul Green to come to Crewe Alexandra last season. The former Eire International has now committed his long-term future to the club after impressing on loan from Oldham Athletic and Porter says that the midfielder signing a permanent deal will only add more leadership to the dressing room.

Porter feels that the addition of Green and fellow striker Shaun Miller will only enhance our chances of having a more successful season in League Two.

The forward told crewealex.net: “Obviously Paul is very experienced and he has played a lot of games. At times, you need those experienced players around the place to help the younger ones. We all try to do that here.

“Paul is a great lad and a good player and him and Shaun signing on a permanent basis is only good for the team. Shaun has scored goals wherever he has been and I would like to think I had a part to play in Greenie signing.

“I was on the phone to him, constantly trying to convince him to come here. I was telling him he had to come! He did and he certainly helped us. It is looking good for next season and I’m sure the manager will look to bring in one or two more as well.”
