Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is only interested in signing players this summer who are hungry to play games and improve.
The Alex boss says that money should never be the number one priority if a player is interested in moving clubs this summer.
Artell has already signed the experienced Shaun Miller and Paul Green on permanent deals following their successful loan spells last season. He has already told the club’s official website that there are funds available for more recruits this summer, as he aims to build a squad capable of improving on our 15th placing last time out.
The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “We will do our due diligence on the players because we want the right characters.
“Every transfer is a gamble and a bit of risk but we look to minimise that risk by doing our homework on them.
“They are paid handsomely but if it is money that floats their boat more than wanting to play and be successful then they won’t be for us.
“I always look at the number of games they have played in their careers. The proudest thing I did wasn’t my debut, or the promotions or playing International football, it was playing 600 games.
“I earned a few bob along the way but I also played the games week-in-week-out.”
