David Artell says that the World Cup in Russia is a fantastic learning curve for everyone associated with the game. The Crewe Alexandra boss believes that you cannot fail to learn from the top managers, coaches and players when watching football at the highest level and he is using the tournament to pick up ideas.
Artell believes that if his players are watching the tournament this summer they should be analysing the matches from a tactical perspective.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “Anyone who is interested in the game can learn from the top players and coaches. It is important that you study the games and see what they do tactically or what the players do in certain situations.
“You can always learn and improve and there isn’t a better stage than a World Cup to do that. I try and study the games and see what the manager is trying to do. I look at what is successful and what isn’t and how they can influence things and change it.
“You can learn a great deal and so can the players when they watch the world’s best players. I think it is important to look at the games in this way and for them to become students of the game.”
