Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is looking forward to facing Fleetwood Town and their new boss Joey Barton in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday 14th August. Both clubs have earlier today confirmed ticket prices for the cup meeting at Gresty Road and Artell believes it will be interesting to see how Barton will set up his side.
Artell told the club’s official website: “When it comes to cup competitions in the early rounds, the best that you can hope for is a home game. That gives you the best chance of progressing.
“We ran Bolton close last year and it was a good test for us. We probably deserved a bit more out of the game.
“Now we have been drawn at home to Fleetwood, who are a league above us. It will be up to us to give them a game and I’m sure we will.
“It will be interesting to see how Joey sets his team up and what his philosophy will be like. He was a great pro and he had a great career as a player. It will be good to talk to him.
“It is a tasty game and one that everyone will be looking forward to.”
