Artell: "You Don't Want Pre-Season Training To Be Like Groundhog Day"

29 June 2018

Boss reveals he has one or two things in the pipeline to keep his players fresh in the pre-season.

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will take his squad on more team bonding exercises during his pre-season preparation. The players returned to full-time training yesterday and were instantly tested ahead of the next six weeks of planned work.

Artell says he is prepared to spice things up and has some bonding sessions in mind to take the players away from the training ground environment.

The boss told us: “I have one or two things in the pipeline and I am sure the players will enjoy it and get something out of it. We had a couple of great bonding days with the players and the staff last season and it went down well.

“You don’t want pre-season training to be like Groundhog Day, where it is session, after session, after session. I think the players enjoy something different and experiencing a different environment.

The boss added: “We are looking to train at a Premier League club and join in with their Under-23s. That will be a fresh challenge for them and will bring more intensity to it because they will up against unfamiliar players. I am sure they will learn a lot and it is like any job, if you enjoy it you probably give more."
