Michael Raynes has been suitably impressed with the way his teammates have returned to pre-season in great shape.
The Alex defender believes that the players have stepped up a level during the summer and has revealed that the staff have had to rein some of them back in so they peak at the right time.
Raynes told crewealex.net: “The boys look really well. They have come back really fit and you can see the benefits of the summer work. A lot of them have been in over the summer and they are looking really fit.
“It’s a really good start and the experienced lads like Ports and Greeny are setting the example. They are right up there in the running. It is as if everyone has stepped up a level and all the younger ones are now a year older and know what is required to be a first team footballer.
“It is all looking good and hopefully we can remain injury free this summer because we are good enough to do something special this season.”
