Boss Pleased With The Intensity Of Pre-Season Work Load

20 July 2018

David Artell has been pleased with the intensity of the work his players are getting through as they prepare for the big kick off on 4th August. Crewe Alexandra continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly at Altrincham this evening.

The players have already got through a 10k run at Delamere Forest this time last week, a friendly at Barrow 24 hours later and virtually all of them got 90 minutes during our double header at Kidsgrove and Bala. That was soon followed up with a training day at Liverpool’s Academy with our former coach Neil Critchley and his Under-23s.

The Crewe boss has been pleased with the work load his players have got through thus far.

Ahead of or trip to Altrincham, he stated: “The players have worked hard. We have done a lot of short and sharp work and the intensity has been good. We are getting sharper each day.

“Pre-season is hard work. It isn’t all about running them into the ground and they have had some down time and rest as well. That is just as important.

“When you push yourself and push those boundaries is when you improve and benefit. They are all doing that and they are getting into the stride now. The physical work and loading has been good and they are very fit.”
