Boss Not Overly Concerned By Pre-Season Goal Tally

18 July 2018

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has told the club’s official website that he is not overly concerned with the amount of goals we have scored so far in pre-season.

The Alex have not scored over two goals in a game yet and drew blanks at Barrow and Bala, but Artell says that he is not worried as pre-season is all about his players getting through it without picking up untimely injuries.

David told crewealex.net: “Every manager would tell you that they want more. We would all like to score lots of goals but I am not overly concerned at the moment.

“You only have to look at England at the World Cup. They reached the last four in the world but have been criticised for lacking creativity. They have shown that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

“I would take being criticised for a lack of creativity and finishing in the top three of the league. That would do very nicely.

“We know there is room for improvement and we will work on our decision making in the final third. We will work on all aspects of our play and we will get sharper over the next few weeks.

“I am confident that the players we have in the team will score goals. We can score goals from different positions.”
