Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says he has the flexibility to use pre-season as a ‘chance to experiment with one or two things’ The Alex kick off their pre-season campaign with a friendly against our near neighbours Nantwich Town this weekend. Kick off at the Weaver Stadium is 12.30pm.
Artell will utilise his first-team squad and give as many players as he can some beneficial game time against the Dabbers.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “Pre-season does give you an opportunity to try certain things out. You can experiment a bit and see what works and what doesn’t.
“You can partner players up and see if it works. It is all about trying to get the best out of the players. We will ease them back in and they will get enough minutes in the opening friendlies. They just need the time out on the pitch, to get their legs going and work on their touch more than anything.
“We will look at systems and tactics and it is all part of the preparation for a month’s time.”
