David Artell says he will only consider the pre-season a success if the club goes on to have a successful season. The Crewe Alexandra boss has stated that his plans have gone well but stresses that it is always difficult to tell until the real games kick in again on 4th August.
Ahead of our next pre-season game at Leek on Thursday night, David told us: “I think the pre-season has gone well but you never truly know. I suppose the proof will be the pudding when the season kicks off.
“It shouldn’t all be about the first game. It is about the next 9 and 10 months. It is a long season.
“It has gone alright in terms of injuries. We have one or two struggling a bit but nothing like last year when we had some of our players missing for long periods.
“I am confident but I have been in this game for 18 years and you don’t know how it will go. You soon find out when the real games kick in.”
