Artell: "No-One Is Safe"

28 July 2018

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says that not one of his players is safe when it comes to starting the season in his team.

The Crewe boss named a strong side for our final warm up game of the pre-season with the likes of Ben Garratt, Tom Lowery, James Jones and Chris Porter having to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench this afternoon.

Following the 1-1 draw with Blackpool, the Crewe boss was adamant that no-one is safe from being left out this season.

He told the club’s official website: “The team in mind is at the back of my mind and that is where it will stay as well. My mind is not totally made up, far from it.

“I’ve told the players that if they train well, and play well then they will play. They have to train well this week and show the right attitude. If they get the shirt, play well and keep it. If you haven’t got one then work your socks off and get one.

“No-one is safe. Not one player and we hope that will be the case every week. They will play on merit.”
