David Artell says that he is after a specific full-back to bolster his squad options ahead of the new season. The Crewe Alexandra boss has targeted a new full-back after letting Zoumana Bakayogo depart the club in the summer but he wants a recognised full-back rather than a ‘jack-of-all trades’.
The boss told the club’s official website: “I hope to get at least one more in and that will be a full-back. We need one. I don’t want a ‘Jack of all trades’ type but a specific full-back.
“It is good to have players who can play different positions like Eddie (Nolan) who can play full-back and did brilliantly at centre-half. Perry is the same and we have others who can do that.
“I want to create the competition amongst the squad and get the lads to push each other. I think we had that in the second half of the season.
“When they get their chance they will have to step up and do what they have got to do to stay in the team.”
