Artell: "I Won't Lose Any Sleep Over Ng Contract Talk"

16 July 2018

Boss still does not envisage any problems over Ng agreeing new deal.

David Artell, the Crewe Alexandra manager, has told the club’s official website that he remains confident that Perry Ng will commit his future to the club and agree a new contract.

Artell says that he ‘will not lose any sleep’ over a possible deal because the Liverpool-born defender has already hinted that he would like to remain at the club and he still has a year to run on his current deal.

The Alex boss is hoping to resume talks with Ng’s agent after making contact with him last week and he understands that with high profile client such as Riyad Mahrez to serve, Ng’s contract extension is lower on his priority list.

David explained to crewealex.net: “I left a voice mail with Perry’s agent on Friday and he came back to me to say he received and that we will talk again soon.

“I think he was doing the Mahrez deal and a few others, so I would imagine that we are not top of our priority list at the moment.

“Of course, we would like it concluded sooner rather than later but I won’t be losing any sleep over it.

“Perry had a terrific season and he knows what he has to do this season. He knows he is at the right place to develop his career at the moment.

“I don’t envisage him being at the club for three years anyway. I would hope he has gone on to bigger and better things by then. Hopefully, we will be in the top half of League One by then, so it means we have been successful with him, we have been good for him and he is ready to go and play in the Championship.

David added: “I don’t envisage any problems with it but it will take time, just like the other three lads did at the end of the season.”
