"If Alex Ever Needs A Ticking Off, He Will Get One"

16 July 2018

David Artell has told the club’s official website that the character, personality and drive of Alex Nicholls is one of the main reasons why he was keen to bring him into the Football Club.

Nicholls, 30, jumped at the chance to sign for his former Northampton Town teammate following Barnet’s relegation to the National League and Artell has stressed that his experience will only benefit the Crewe dressing room.

David told crewealex.net:  “I was only with Alex at Northampton for under a season but we went through a lot together.

“He suffered a horrific leg break and he had some really dark days. It was tough and he worried about his career but he has a great character and got himself back. He is very ambitious and driven and let me assure you he has the ability to play a lot higher.

“He loves the game and loves to play and that is why he fought back and that is why he is here. We hope he can help this football club and himself play higher.

David added: “He was a former teammate and is a friend but he won’t be treated any differently here. If he needs a ticking off, he will get it like everyone else and Alex knows that and respects that.”
