Crewe Alexandra are hoping to be handed a major boost with the news that long-term absentees, Ryan Wintle, James Jones and George Ray are all expected to get some game time for the club’s Under-23s at Hull this evening.
Jones has not kicked a ball this season after having surgery for a hernia problem in the summer. Defender Ray has been absence since last Easter after suffering a fracture in his back at Yeovil Town.
Ryan Wintle has not played since September when he suffered a fractured tibia against Carlisle United.
David Artell told the club’s official website: “The three players have been out for a long time now, so it is important that they get back on a football pitch and get some game time.
“We will ease them in gradually and they will play as much as they need to. We won’t be taking any risks with them and they will play for a short period. They are track and it will be like signing three new players in January when they are available for first-team selection again.”
