Porter Hoping To Keep Goal Return Going

11 January 2018

Crewe Alexandra forward Chris Porter is hoping that he can get on the scoresheet again against Carlisle United this weekend and help the Railwaymen to their first back-to-back win since August.

The Alex have struggled to follow up one win with another but following our 2-0 home win over Grimsby Town, we now have another opportunity to overcome that frustrating hoodoo.

Porter notched his 11th goal of the season on New Year’s Day and he was also on target, albeit a heavy deflection against Chesterfield on Boxing Day.

The experienced striker is hoping that his healthy goal return will continue in the second half of the season.

Ahead of our trip to Brunton Park, Chris told the club’s official website: “We needed some points over the festive period and we managed to do that and keep some clean sheets as well.

“It has been a bit up and down for us in the first half of the season. We have been in a sequence of win, lose, win, lose, win and we know we have to try and improve on that.

“What was pleasing over the festive games is that our game management was good. We made better decisions and we did the ugly side of the game well.

The former Derby, Colchester and Sheffield United forward added: “I’ve been relatively pleased with my goal return so far. I have been pleased to score 11 goals in the first half of the season and I hope to score more. I know that if I can then I am helping the team and Crewe Alexandra.”
