Lunt Hopes Transfer Deadline Day Passes Fairly Quietly

31 January 2018

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Kenny Lunt is hoping that transfer deadline day passes quietly without any more interest arriving for our players.

Lunt said yesterday that the club staff are still looking for possible reinforcements to help our squad for the final few months of the season, but on the flipside he is hoping that no-one follows George Cooper away from Gresty Road.

Lunt admits that the window deadline works both ways and you can never rule out late business with the deadline for English clubs at 11pm this evening.

Kenny told us: “You never quite know what will happen until the window closes. It works both ways and you never know what can happen as we approach the deadline. Some deals are done very late.

“All you can do is wait and see. We don’t fear someone coming in for one of our players because that is what we do. That is our business model and like always, if it is right for the club and for the player then we consider it.

He added: “Everyone has a number and if the number is met then it goes from there. You never know but it has to be right for the football club. If it isn’t then we do turn offers down.”
