Lessons To Learn From Previous Swindon Defeat

25 January 2018

David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side have to learn lessons from our 3-0 defeat to Swindon Town just before Christmas.

Crewe actually started the home fixture well enough, but were quickly blown away by Swindon’s three goals in the opening 20 minutes. It gave us an impossible mountain to climb against David Flitcroft’s side.

Artell says that we cannot afford to let that happen again at the County Ground this weekend.

David told “I actually thought we started quite well against Swindon. We tried to take the game to them in the opening minutes and get on the front foot but inside 20 minutes we were 3-0 down.

“You cannot let that happen. It killed us off and killed the momentum we had been trying to build.

“We have to try and attack them and we have to make sure that we don’t concede goals like we did. We have to soak up that pressure a lot better and not get done by a sucker punch here and there. That is not the way to be successful.

“We have to stand up to them and be resilient in our defending and then hopefully it will be us taking our chances this time.”
