David Artell admits that his Crewe Alexandra side are finding it difficult to cope in the ‘heat of the battle’. The Alex were superb for large parts of the game at Swindon on Saturday and had deservedly led 3-1 before the hour mark, but again we allowed that advantage to slip from our grasp and we ended up with nothing to show for our efforts.
Artell told the club’s official website: “In the heat of the battle we cannot work it. At times we are just doing enough to lose at the minute which is the exact opposite of what we want. It is ridiculous.
“We have scored five goals in two games and I don’t have to say much more.
“We helped Swindon get back into the game with our decision making. We need to keep the ball better, be more effective in possession, be resolute in our defending and keep our shape. We didn’t do that well enough for the last 25 minutes of the game. We were our own worst enemies again.
“We are scoring goals and creating chances but we have to be a lot more resolute at the other end because we cannot keep on doing it.”
