Crewe Alexandra have confirmed the signing of experienced midfielder Paul Green on loan from Oldham Athletic.

The 34-year-old has joined on a deal until the end of the 2017/18 season & will be available for selection at Carlisle United on Saturday. He will wear the number 30 shirt.

Green started & played 90 minutes in Oldham's 1-0 League One defeat at Charlton last weekend, but has made just nine appearances so far this season.

He was a regular at Boundary Park last campaign however, making 47 appearances in all competitions after joining in summer 2016 from Rotherham United.

Starting out at Doncaster in 2001, Green made 279 appearances for the Club over seven years before joining Derby County in 2008.

He enjoyed four years & 143 appearances with the Rams before representing the Republic of Ireland in the 2012 European Championships, signing for Leeds United on his return.

After two years at Elland Road, part of which was spent out on loan at Ipswich, he moved to Rotherham in 2014 & enjoyed a futher two years with the Millers in the Championship.
