Crewe Alexandra Football Club is pleased to announce the loan signing of Newcastle United defender Jamie Sterry on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old plays at right-back and had made five first-team appearances for Newcastle, including his debut as a second half substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in May 2016.
Jamie is highly thought of at Newcastle and manager Rafa Benitez awarded him the number 42 in his senior squad this season.
He has made two full starts for the Premier League side in the League Cup and also enjoyed a successful loan spell at Coventry City during the 2016/17 season.
Sterry made 20 appearances for the then League One side and he scored his first senior goal in a 1-1 draw with Morecambe in the FA Cup back in November 2016.
Sterry has been a regular at Under-23 level for Newcastle and he played in all three of Newcastle’s Checkatrade Trophy group games this season, including the 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra back in September. He now teams up with his Newcastle United team-mate Daniel Barlaser at Gresty Road.
Everyone would like to welcome Jamie to the football club and he is immediately in contention for his Crewe debut at Notts County this weekend.
