Crewe Alexandra remain hopeful that the ankle injury which kept our leading goalscorer, Chris Porter out of weekend defeat at Carlisle United is not too serious.

Porter, who has hit 11 goals in his 31 appearances this season, missed our 1-0 defeat at Brunton Park due to the injury, but manager David Artell is hopeful of having him available for selection for this weekend’s home game against Wycombe Wanderers.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Chris has hurt his ankle but we are hopeful that it is not long-term but we’ll have to wait and see.”
