David Artell says that the loan signing of Paul Green is a win-win situation for all parties. The vastly experienced midfielder has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the season and Artell believes that the Oldham man will help the club’s younger midfield players.
Artell told the club’s official website: “We have signed Paul to help us in midfield. His experience will help the likes of Tom Lowery, Harry Pickering and Callum Ainley when things can get tough out on the pitch.
“When you have someone who can say ‘don’t worry, do this and do that’ it helps. We felt we had that at the back and up front with the experienced players we have at the club, but just felt we needed an experienced one in the middle of the pitch.
“With Paul we have got that. I’ve played against him and he is a very good player. He wants to be playing games, so it is a win-win situation for everyone.
“We had Danny Hollands last season and to a certain extent Billy Bingham and we haven’t had that type since they left in the summer. We have missed that and Paul can be that man.
David added: “It is a shot in the arm for everyone. For the players, staff and the fans and Paul gets his game time. It is a boost for everyone.”
