Artell: "Loan Players Will Freshen Things Up"

19 January 2018

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he is confident that the club’s new two loan signings, Harry McKirdy and Daniel Barlaser will have the desired impact. The Crewe Alexandra boss acted quickly after selling his main asset provider George Cooper to League One Peterborough United yesterday.

Artell has boosted his attacking options with McKirdy able to play in various forward roles and Barlaser as an attacked-minded midfield player.

David told the club’s official website: “We are pleased to get the two lads in on loan and it has allowed us to freshen up the squad. I would rather have numbers and a few selection dilemmas to make rather than patching up a team and putting them out there.

“They will strengthen our options, especially in an attacking sense. Harry is a good finisher and we have been talking to Aston Villa about him over the last few weeks.

“Daniel is one who played against us in the Checkatrade Trophy and we liked. I went to watch him again yesterday and he scored two goals from midfield. He is a bright footballer and gets in the box.

“Hopefully, they will have the desired impact with us.”
