George Ray says that Crewe Alexandra should go to Notts County this weekend with no fear. The Alex have already beaten the Magpies 2-0 back in October and Ray recalls the victory against all-odds against Portsmouth last season as a marker. It was his towering header that gave us three vital points in our quest to stay in the EFL.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Meadow Lane, Ray told the club’s official website:

“We have already had a great result against them this season when we won 2-0, so we have shown what we can do on our day.

“It is always a big test facing Notts County but as players we won’t be going there with an fear because we have good players.

“I’ve always said that anyone can beat anyone on their day, especially in League One and Two. It is usually who turns up on the day and we have to make sure it is us.

“We showed at Portsmouth last season that we can rise to the occasion and play in front of a big crowd. There is no reason why we cannot repeat a performance like that and use their fans to our advantage. “
