George Ray completed 120 minutes against Nantwich Town in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday evening as he steps up his match fitness after almost 10 months out of the game with a fracture of his lower back.
Crewe Alexandra’s defence of the Cheshire Senior Cup was ended by the Dabbers in the 115th minute of extra-time, but the match allowed the likes of Ray, Zoumana Bakayogo and Perry Ng to get minutes on the pitch. The on-loan Dan Barlaser also scored his first goal for the club when he raced on to a through ball from Lewis Reilly to put the Alex ahead in the first half.
Bakayogo, who was rested for the second half of extra-time, and Ng return from suspension this weekend and Ray will train today in the hope of an inclusion against the Glovers.
Crewe will be without the injured Chris Porter, Chris Dagnall and Ryan Wintle for the visit of Darren Way’s Yeovil Town.
