Plaudits Don't Matter One Jot When We Are Beaten

7 February 2018

David Artell says that performances have to be over 90 minutes after he saw his Crewe Alexandra side let another lead slip away at Notts County on Saturday. Shaun Miller scored the opening goal early on at Meadow Lane but we ended up losing the game 4-1.

Artell was pleased with certain aspects of our play, as he was the previous week when we lost 4-3 at Swindon but the Crewe boss says that those ‘plaudits do not matter one jot when you have lost the game.’

As he prepares his side for this weekend’s visit of Darren Way’s Yeovil, the Crewe boss told us:  Every game is an opportunity to get three points. It doesn’t matter if it is Yeovil at home or Notts County away. I want to win every game.

“I believe that we have more than enough in our dressing room to win football matches, to win more football matches than we lose. I have that strong belief.

“We are at home on Saturday and we will do everything we can to make sure we put on a performance and get a result.

The boss added: “The players are fully aware of the situation we are in and they know they have to perform for 90 minutes. We cannot continue to play well for 20 minutes, half an hour, a half or 80 minutes, a game lasts 90 minutes and we have got to be better than the opposition for those 90 minutes.”
