Crewe Alex produced their best performance of the season to beat promotion-chasing Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday.
They fought back from a Michael Bostwick opener when Jordan Bowery ended an 18-game scoring drought with a super brace, and Harry Pickering and Paul Green got their first goals for the club.
An outstanding second-half display will have given the side a great deal of confidence, as they moved up to 18th in League Two.
Crewe were looking for their first away points of 2018, and to bounce back from their shocking injury-time defeat to Exeter in midweek.
And manager David Artell turned to defender George Ray in a bid to help them to that. The big centre half, who has been kept out by a stress fracture of the back, made his first appearance of the season in the heart of defence and he was handed the captain’s armband.
