Paper Review: Crewe 0-0 Yeovil

12 February 2018

The Chronicle

Crewe Alex were frustrated by fellow strugglers Yeovil Town who held them to a goalless draw at Gresty Road on Saturday.

The Alex were the better side and created more chances, with Callum Ainley, Jordan Bowery and Zoumana Bakayogo going closest.

But they could not find a way through the Glovers’ determined rearguard, and it was their first draw in 29 fixtures.

The result did at least stop a sequence of five straight defeats, but Crewe are two places and three points above the drop zone.

Crewe went into the game in desperate need of a victory to arrest their slide towards the drop zone.

Yeovil Town were forced to settle for a point at Crewe Alexandra as a hotly contested game ended goalless at Gresty Road.

The Glovers spent much of the game under the cosh as Crewe pushed for a first win in five, but neither side was able to find a winning goal.

A draw moves Yeovil eight points clear of the relegation zone ahead of a crucial match at home to Barnet on Tuesday.

But there is a double injury worry for Darren Way's side as Nathan Smith and Artur Krysiak both went off due to injury.

Yeovil Town extended their unbeaten run with a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Crewe Alexandra.

In a frantic affair in Cheshire, Artur Krysiak made two smart stops in the first half whilst Ryan Seager went close to netting at the other end on two occasions.

After the break both sides searched for an elusive winner and Sam Surridge had the ball in the net but for an offside flag, but it remained goalless as Town moved four games unbeaten in all competitions.
