Boss Hopeful On Quicker Wintle Return

8 February 2018

David Artell remains hopeful that his midfielder Ryan Wintle will return to action ahead of schedule. Wintle has endured a frustrating season with injuries. He fractured his tibia against Carlisle United back in September and after battling back ahead of time, he then picked up an ankle injury in training after playing two games for the first-team.

Wintle is a renowned quicker healer and Artell is hopeful that the 20-year-old will get back sooner than expected to help in our quest to remain in the EFL.

Dave told the club’s official website: “We have sent Ryan for an MRI scan and we will know more when we see those results.

“He has had a bit of bone flaked off his ankle, it’s a small fragment but we are hoping it is not a long recovery time for him.

“Ryan has been a big loss this season. I would say that he is the one we have missed the most with the work he gets through in midfield and how he helps protect the back four.

“He is a good healer so we are hoping the scan is positive and he can really step up his rehab.”
